Buccaneers running back’s stock rising quickly with recent events
By Rob Leeds
Between Rachaad White’s first game with the Buccaneers and the recent injury to Giovani Bernard, it looks like the rookie is about to get more use.
Buccaneers fans should get used to hearing about Rachaad White.
The rookie from Arizona State took no time in getting the team and coaching staff to fall in love with him, and the first preseason game showed us exactly why.
While the run game was stagnant for the other backs, White looked like a star. Whether it was a first down run, between the tackles, or to the outside, White was able to make something happen where the other guys couldn’t.
It might be a bit early to start saying this, but that guy who took the field for the Bucs could easily be the RB2 in Tampa this season.
We definitely need to see more, but White did all of the right things as a runner, blocker, and receiver.
To further the support for White moving up the depth chart before the season actually begins, the injury to Giovani Bernard and the loss of Kenjon Barner for the season is eliminating a lot of the competition White will face for the rest of camp. Fourtnette and Vaughn are still there, but it is pretty clear that White already looks a good bit better than Vaughn.
We will need to see White with the first and second team offense before we can really come to any conclusions, but it is going to be hard to find a lot of Buccaneers players that are seeing their stock rise as quickly as Rachaad White.
This kid is going to be a superstar based on what we have seen in camp and the first preseason game, and it feels safe to say that the trend of Bucs rookie running backs is about to die a dramatic death.
