It has reached a point where it is hard not to worry about Tom Brady. Hopefully the starting quarterback for the Buccaneers is okay.
The whole story has seemed fishy from the start. Today, it appears as though the threads are starting to unravel. Despite Todd Bowles telling the media that the Buccaneers discussed the absence with Tom Brady ahead of the preseason and okayed it, today’s actions don’t seem to line up with this statement.
Bowles didn’t show concern when asked about Brady’s return, but his inability to give an exact date points to this likely being a spur of the moment decision.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to themselves.
The narrative that is coming from the team right now is that Brady met with Todd Bowles before the season, a year where the team needs to be in contention for the Super Bowl from the start after losing several key players to retirement, injuries, and free agency, and they agreed to Brady taking an indefinite break from a team that has three new faces on the offensive line, three new tight ends, a new running back, and two new wide receivers.
Does this really make sense when held up to some scrutiny? If you believe it, hats off to you.
We are of a different mind.
It reality, it would take a pretty significant event to take a guy like Brady away from his team in a manner such as this. Unprecedented moves like this likely have unprecedented causes, and we sincerely hope that Brady and his family are okay and able to make it through whatever they are dealing with.
No one ever needs to know the why, but a move like this is not helping the team, and it would be nice to have details about a return if the team really did have that information as it says.
