It’s no secret to anyone that Tom Brady has made a massive impact on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on-field performance throughout the last two seasons. While turning in back-to-back MVP contending seasons, Brady has shown why many consider him the GOAT.
However, to anyone that has watched the team closely over the last few years, Brady may have actually made his greatest impact on the team before the ball was even snapped.
Brady has brought his work-ethic, competitive nature, and winning mentality to a team with a losing culture. While there have been great players on the team since their last Super Bowl run, the Bucs never appeared to the rest of the league as a threat until Brady came.
Whether it be the intensity he brought at practice or the bar he would constantly hold both himself and other players to at practice, Brady made his presence known, and the rest of the league obviously had to take notice.
So, with Brady gone, it’s no shock that the Bucs look pretty similar to a chicken with their head cut off without him during their game against the Tennessee Titans.
The whole offense especially looks unorganized and unfocused, unable to put together successful drives. Between QBs Kyle Trask and Blaine Gabbert, the Bucs were unable to even get their team a field goal in the first half.
Obviously, it’s preseason, but that shouldn’t mean a playoff team and potential Super Bowl winner shouldn’t be able to get into field goal range for an entire half.
Whether that be the fault of the play calling, players on the field, or both, one thing is for sure; that would not occur with Brady on the field .
The fact that the Bucs will almost certainly not have Brady to lead the team next year means that games like this preseason game against the Titans and the lack of focus and intensity displayed will need to be remedied quickly.
Hopefully the Bucs can find Brady and get him back on the field soon.
