If the Buccaneers want to win the game on Sunday, they will need to find a way to slow Dak Prescott down in the passing game.

There are a few downright-horrible storylines in sports. The Buccaneers have experienced their fair share of these terrible takes over the years, but one of the worst in the modern NFL is that Dak Prescott is a mediocre to average quarterback.

The stats paint a picture of a quarterback that is one of the best in the NFL, and Prescott has been able to do this with below-average coaching and a week defense for most of his career, yet the doubters still come forward every year in droves.

Perhaps people just hate him because he is a Cowboys quarterback.

Regardless, Prescott has received tons of doubt due to a lack of team success in the playoffs (quarterback stats aren’t a real stat), but that doesn’t mean that it won’t all come together for the Cowboys at some point.

Despite all of this doubt, the Cowboys were a decent kicker away from beating the Bucs in the first game of the 2021 season due to their quarterback, and the same could prove true in 2022 if the Buccaneers can’t find a way to shut Prescott down.

This Cowboys team can generally move the ball at will through the air, but the one area where they excel against the Bucs is in Kellen Moore’s quick passing game.

A high volume attack with mediocre quarterbacks has been able to move the ball with ease against the Buccaneer defense over the past few years, and Prescott had one of the best games of his career against this team last year.

42/58 for 403 yards, three touchdowns, and a tipped catch for an interception was pretty damn good for a “mediocre quarterback” going up against the defending Super Bowl champs that held Patrick Mahomes to no touchdowns.

If the Buccaneers do want to win this game, they will need to find a way to get added pressure on Dak Prescott and not line up ten yards off the receivers at the snap. It would also help if the Cowboys make the stupid decision to take reps away from Prescott in favor of running the ball. Fingers crossed.
