The most impressive stats of the Buccaneers season so far

Attention on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers throughout the past three years has always favored the offense, and to be fair, that’s where nearly all the big signings and drama has been located. Tom Brady alone get more media attention than most NFL teams do. Then add in Antonio Brown drama and Rob Gronkowski and it’s not hard to see why the defense has often been overlooked.

But while throughout the first two games, the Bucs offense has certainly been very good, it has been their defense that has been the most consistently great producer for the team, and that trend continues to hold true this year as well.

The Bucs, while 2-0 have greatly struggled to score points, and most off their offensive stats have been pretty mediocre to say the least.

However, on defense, their numbers clearly show why the team remains undefeated and a feared opponent this season.

The Bucs rank first in sacks with ten. Similar to past seasons, the defense has been able to consistently put pressure on opposing QBs forcing quick throws and almost no rushing game.

The team is 5th in both yards given up and in forcing turnovers with 550 yards and six turnovers respectively.

All these other stats ultimately lead to the last one which is the fact that the Bucs have given up less total points than any other team in the league with just 13 points in two games.

While Bucs fans can and should continue to be worried about the offense, the team’s defense looks to be firing on all cylinders.

What will be interesting to see is if the defense can continue to produce at this level up to and after the offense gets healthy again. If they can continue to perform at that point, the Bucs will be a scary team come the playoffs.
