After the Buccaneers defense was shredded by one of the best offenses in the NFL, the Falcons should be a bit of a different story.
The Buccaneers defense needed a break after the embarrassment at home last weekend.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were able to do everything they wanted on that side of the ball, and a performance like that caught a lot of optimistic Bucs fans off guard.
Two and two isn’t a place for a team like Tampa to start worrying, but they are approaching a stretch of games that are very easy on paper and should end in wins.
This stretch starts with a game against the Falcons this weekend, and it is becoming more and more of a must-win affair.
The Falcons are a division opponent. The NFC South may not be all that tough this season, but the Bucs have the talent on their roster to go 6-0 in division games, and that isn’t even mentioning the lack of talent on their opponents’ rosters.
The Falcons are going to be very depleted this Sunday. After losing offensive centerpiece Cordarrelle Patterson earlier in the week, the Falcons are also going to be without Kyle Pitts against the Bucs.
The Falcons may not use Pitts all that much, but being down two important offensive weapons is going to make this game very difficult for the Falcons to keep up with Tampa’s high-powered offense, especially if the Bucs learned from their mistakes from the first four games with such conservative play-calling.
Atlanta should be able to touch this defense. The Falcons are without most of their offense, and the Bucs have to prove themselves. A bounce back should definitely be in the cards for the reeling Buccaneers, and this seems like a perfect opportunity to get right.
