Buccaneers Silver Medal Winner: Antoine Winfield Jr.

What more is there to say about Antoine Winfield Jr. that hasn’t already been said? Simply put, the guy is a stud, and not just as a safety either. Winfield is a stud defensive back, period. He can really do it all. The Bucs have had him everywhere from playing as the deep safety, to being matched one on one with the opponent’s best receiver in the slot. Regardless of where he goes, he is flying around the ball, and that continued against the Falcons.

On Sunday, Winfield led all Bucs defenders with eight total tackles, seven of which were solo, including a sack and two tackles for loss. He also added on a pass deflection for good measures. His talent and skill in the tackling department are becoming just as elite as his coverage ability, in the slot or in center field, and that should be music to the ears of Buccaneers fans everywhere.

Winfield is getting better week after week, and that is an exciting thought. If he keeps this up, he may find himself receiving All-Pro votes, and nothing would be more deserving. After how the Bucs’ season ended last year with Cooper Kupp getting behind him in the playoffs (not all Winfield’s fault) the redemption arc is nothing short of extraordinary.
