The Buccaneers are dying on offense with Byron Leftwich. They need to make a change, and the good news is they have an easy replacement option.
The Buccaneers need to cut ties with Byron Leftwich as soon as humanly possible. If not tonight, tomorrow is the next-best option.
There is a lot of blame that should fall on the players for failing to produce, but the play-calling has still left plenty to be desired.
Now, everyone always asks the valid questions, “if you cut bait with this coach, who replaces him?”
The Buccaneers have an option in house that would be lightyears better than Leftwich.
Somehow, the Bucs still have Bruce Arians in the building, and this sure seems like a great opportunity to prove that the former head coach really does belong in the Hall of Fame if there were any questions remaining.
Whether the offer is based on money or responsibility, the Bucs need to make an easy offer for Arians to accept and pray that he can help turn this disaster around.
Would one coach change everything in a few weeks? Maybe not, but it is also fair to say that almost everyone on this offense has already spent time playing in a similar system that wasn’t as risk-averse.
Brady still has the arm, Mike Evans can still make it deep, and Arians has a history of making the numbers come, even from behind a bad offensive line.
This team needs a savior. Bruce Arians already led the team to a Super Bowl once, and it is fair to assume that he will help get the Buccaneers back on track to ensure that they level the bottom tier of the league from an offensive standpoint.
A change is needed. Why not make the easiest change that rocks the boat the least?
