The embers are barely glowing, and there’s nothing there with the Buccaneers to burn big and bright right now, and so we ask…
Where’s the fire in this Buccaneers team? A team plays as they are coached, and we seem to have a coaching staff that’s a smothering, oxygen depleting fire extinguisher that’s keeping this team from burning into a huge bonfire that they could be.
It’s there. Those cinders. Just waiting for that kindling to be fanned back into those furious flames so this can grow and burn like this bonfire should. You can’t have a raging inferno when the coaching staff keeps throwing water on it and depriving it of the life-giving oxygen it needs.
So what are the Buccaneers going to do?
Coaches are hired to get this team firing on all cylinders, burning hot and bright. They should know how to get the most out of the team and out of each player. Most of all, they should be able to shake them up and get them back on fire. Now we need them more than ever to get them back in this race to the playoffs. You get paid a lot to do this.
If this organization doesn’t make some serious changes and start to stoke this blaze and get it broiling soon, it could get completely extinguished. Pay attention, the world is:
It may be time to go full tilt boogie, ramp up fast and start pouring on some lighter fluid. Start piling that firewood up high, get aggressive, get loud, get mad and get this inferno raging, now. Thursday Night Football’s primetime matchup with the Ravens in RayJay is coming up fast, and if the Bucs don’t start making changes now they may extinguish whatever embers they still have left.
Todd Bowles needs to make some changes, pronto. Bowles has great character, and is a really good guy, but he’s seemingly willing to watch that campfire die down to practically nothing before putting more wood on it. Maybe those changes need to be made with him.
And Byron Leftwich may have to go, especially if the Bucs lose this week. We’ve not seen much special from him all season, most importantly scoring. And Harold Goodwin hasn’t done much but run our backs into walls. The O-line hasn’t helped much with that and they still need to get pushes to convert those thirds and fourths and short, all while also keeping Brady upright.
The coaching may only be part of the problem albeit probably the biggest part, but sometimes you have to stir the fire so things can start falling into place. Beyond the fact that the “Buc” stops with them, the rest of the coaching staff may have a reprieve and hang on to their jobs. For now. The Bucs don’t need a fire sale quite just yet, but if they are going to make any moves, it needs to start at the top soon.
We need to stop asking “Where’s the fire in this Buccaneers team?” With a fiery coach, creative and effective play calling on both sides of the ball, as well as special teams, it should turn the heat up to eleven, and not only be fun to watch again, but fun for the team to play as well. LFG!
