The Buccaneers can start to turn their season around today if they can pull off a win against the Rams. That is easier said than done.
The Buccaneers and the Rams being this bad in 2022 has been one of the more surprising points of this season. These two teams were both favored to make it far in the NFC based on preseason projections. Now, it seems like one or both of these teams could miss the playoffs and it wouldn’t surprise anyone.
Both teams have looked terrible on offense. Who would’ve though that offense was important in a pass-first league in an era that has been dominated by offensive-oriented teams?
With both teams below .500, this matchup is going to be pivotal for playoff implications. The Buccaneers basically have to win this game to get their mojo back, and a loss today while a rival in the division wins could shift the balance of power in the NFC South even more.
The bad news for Tampa is that the Rams have been one of the toughest teams on their schedule for a few years now.
Sean McVay has dominated the Bucs as the better coach in every matchup of the Tom Brady era, and it feels hard to see that going any different today.
The Buccaneers have beaten themselves in every game this season. Why would that change today against this stacked Rams roster?
The Bucs have the better quarterback and the better offensive line, but the Rams have an equally-talented defense, a wide receiver that Tampa is incapable of covering at even the basic level, and the better coaching.
It sounds dreary, but how do you get anything other than dreary from this season after what we have seen?
The Rams probably pull out the win in this game, but the good news is that the Bucs will almost assuredly have to make a coaching change after this game if it is also a loss.
