Buccaneers have new best running back on their roster
By Rob Leeds
After getting to watch for half of a season, it is hard to argue that there is a better running back on the Buccaneers than rookie Rachaad White.
The Leonard Fournette experience with the Buccaneers may not be over just yet, but it is probably time to make a call on him in the starting role with so much talent sitting on the bench behind him.
Rachaad White is the best running back on the team right now.
Leonard Fournette might get the majority of the hype and touches, but that doesn’t mean that he is the best right now. Fournette is struggling with his vision, production in crowded lanes, and he is not blocking all that well.
White is on the different end of this spectrum.
While he may not get nearly as many touches, White is doing more with less between the tackles, blocks well, and he is the far more dynamic pass-catcher.
This pattern has been going on for the past few weeks. Fournette is doing little with the terrible scheme that the Bucs use on the ground, and the only reps that seem to look good with rushing as the focus have White on the field.
The Buccaneers need to make a change.
The run game is dying right now. Bowles and Leftwich have made it clear that they want the run to be a huge part of their identity, so why not put the best runner out there to make the most of those chances?
It should be hard to find anyone that argues that Fournette is the better player as of now.
If the Bucs really want to make their run game better, they need to keep the ball in the hands of their younger and far more dynamic back.
