Buccaneers need to use returning offensive weapon

The Buccaneers have hardly used running back Giovani Bernard so far this season. That needs to change when he returns from injury.

The Buccaneers have looked stagnant on offense on the ground and through the air through most of the season so far.

Sure, there have been a few bright spots that show the world that Tampa can be a dominant team if it all comes together, but these have been the outlier far more than the norm.

As it stands, the Bucs can’t afford to turn down any help in their offense, and that means using any and all players that come available in an attempt to find something that works.

While we would doubt that anything dramatic changes from this news, the Buccaneers should find a way to use Giovani Bernard once he is officially back from his injury.

The run game hasn’t looked great, but it is getting slightly better under Rachaad White. Leonard Fournette seems to be the only player that hurts the run the most when he is on the field, so Tampa should have no problem getting Bernard on the field and in the right situations.

The right situations are key. Bernard isn’t a bruiser. He hasn’t ever filled this role between the tackles through the course of his career. However, he has proven to be one of the best pass-catching backs in the last few decades, and the Bucs could use this skillset to help their offense out.

Whether it is getting Bernard out in space or using him as a better pass-blocker than Fournette, the Buccaneers need to find some way to use the veteran back that they committed to bringing back.
