Buccaneers don’t need to worry about free agent back
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers don’t need to even look at Gordon now, or any other time if or when we lose a running back to injury.
Melvin Gordon’s recent release from the Denver Broncos should say something about him thus far this season. It’s too bad, but this is one reason why most running backs aren’t valued like they once were.
Gordon has had his issues with hanging on to the ole pigskin, which happens to be the last thing the Bucs, or any team, need. They have got to pump up their running back room, not launch it further to the precipice of mediocrity.

The Broncos and their fans had high hopes for him, but Gordon didn’t do much other than dash those dreams. When you’re in tight games, down a couple scores, or even just need several yards out of your running back to get the first down, you need a Mr. Goodbar not a Mr. Butterfingers.
There’s no good reason to bring Gordon over to this Bucs team. Why would they want to take on a back with this kind of baggage and history, and revert backwards?
With Raschaad White coming into his own, Giovanni Bernard back from injury, and even the possibility of Fournette getting back from the hip injury very soon, the Bucs don’t need a big name fumble monster to dampen a potentially burgeoning run attack at this point, even with Keyshawn Vaughn out. And Vaughn is still the better option.
With the 2023 draft, and a plethora of FA running backs set to hit the market next year as well, there’s no rhyme nor reason to bring in Gordon. If a change of scenery didn’t help for him in Denver, what makes us think it’ll be different here?
Move along, there are better options in what we have now, and we can load up next year if the football Gods allow us.
