Buccaneers rookie going into a perfect situation versus Browns
By Rob Leeds
The Buccaneers need a huge win over the Browns to maintain their current momentum. A lot of eyes will be on rookie running back Rachaad White.
The Cleveland Browns have one of the worst defenses in the NFL right now. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the worst rushing offense in the league by a healthy margin in most categories. The stage is set for what is sure to be a game that will defy expectations in numerous areas offensively for both teams.
For the Buccaneers, the biggest part of subverting expectations in this game will come on the ground. Tampa won’t have Leonard Fournette, but that isn’t entirely a bad thing when Rachaad White needs reps more than almost anyone else on the roster.
As an extremely talented rookie with tons of upside on an offense that needs a back with more juice than Fournette, White will play a huge role in today’s game one way or another.
The good news for White and the Bucs is that this game looks like a perfect breakout opportunity for the rookie in a full-time starting role. We saw lots of upside in the win over the Seahawks, but part of that final stat linelooked worse for White due to the reliance on Fournette. That won’t happen today.
No, this game today is going to be all about Rachaad White, and that is exactly what the Buccaneers should want.
The Browns are giving up 4.8 yards per carry this season and have also surrendered 16 touchdowns on the ground.
Based on what we have seen from White and the Browns, this game seems like a perfect opportunity for the Buccaneers to get their rushing attack back on track and firmly cement the rookie in the starting role going forward.
