Buccaneers rookie proved he is the answer in loss versus Browns
By Rob Leeds
That was an ugly, ugly loss for the Buccaneers versus the Browns, but Rachaad White was able to prove himself and his future as a star in Tampa.
It will be hard to find a lot of positives for the Buccaneers after such a terrible loss. While the coaches and the non-existent offense are going to get a major portion of the attention from the media and fanbase over the coming week, one name that should get some praise is rookie running back Rachaad White.
White is the truth. He should be the starter for the Buccaneers going forward. There is no question about it any longer.
You hate to see a guy like Leonard Fournette lose his job due to something like an injury, but it is clear to everyone who watches the game that White is a star in the making.
While White’s numbers took a small step back on the ground today due to some more horrible play-calling, the final numbers still show a back that is way better than what the Bucs were using at the start of the season.
64 yards on the ground (4.6 yards per carry) and nine receptions for 45 yards through the air show that White can be an all-around player with volume.
Again, the cards were stacked against White for most of the game and his rushing attempts disappeared after the first few drives, but this is a guy that can be a major piece in a team that can establish the pass better and then let a back run wild against a defense that is spread out.
The day will come. It probably won’t be with this coaching staff, but Rachaad White is going to be a star very soon. The staff just needs to be better to get the most out of their rookie star.
