Option two for the Buccaneers: Tyler Huntley

Unless Lamar Jackson is willing to do what he can to only come to Tampa to take over after Brady, we can pretty much kiss that possibility goodbye. Of course he’d be a HUGE get, almost as much as it was getting TB12, but he may be too unaffordable even with the creative financing Jason Licht seems to conjur up ever year. Impossible? Absolutely not. Realistic? Probably not.

So therein, we have a really good backup to Jackson in the kid out of Utah, Tyler Huntley. Huntley, 24, proved himself to be a solid QB in his own right when he successfully took over the reigns for Jackson when he went down for several weeks with an injury last year. Mobile, accurate, can run, and is not afraid of contact.

So no, he’s not a Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, or fill-in-the-blank (other of the next gen QB’s succeeding in the league today), yet, he is though, better than the current two backups the Bucs have on the roster presently. Given the chance, he may very well be a great up and coming young star.

Is he the best option of available QB’s out there? Maybe. Maybe not. But he is a more semi under the radar potential steal available for next season. He’s getting more and more attention so if the Bucs go that route, they need to make a move sooner than later.
