The Buccaneers look like a team that could miss out on the playoffs and Tom Brady is not looking himself. Rob Gronkowski returning could’ve helped.
This season has been a stark contrast to what was initially expected for the Buccaneers with Tom Brady.
While everyone expected an obvious drop-off for a team that lost a lot of key players, the team dropping off to this point is still a wild surprise for everyone that still sees a good team in Tampa.
This team could go on to winning the NFC South just as easily as it could miss out on the playoffs.
Everything from this point feels like a coin flip on whether or not it will go well for the team in pewter and red. One thing that isn’t nebulous like these facts is that this team desperately misses the talents of Rob Gronkowski.
Cade Otton has done remarkably well for a rookie in an offense that doesn’t lean on tight ends all that much, but he still doesn’t fill the void of one of the best players in the history of the NFL.
It was a long shot that Gronk would ever even want to come back, but the fact that he recently reached out to the Bucs about a return that didn’t end in any positive change.
Something else going wrong for the Buccaneers, anyone surprised at all by this? It’s not like everything has been going well for the past few months, but that doesn’t make a report like this sting any less.
It would’ve been a major turn for morale to have a player as important as Gronk back on the field and turning the offense back into one of the better units in the league.
Oh well.
