As nice as it would be for the Buccaneers to keep Tom Brady forever, a breakup appears to be on the horizon at a good time for both parties.

With the 2022 season nearing its disappointing end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the day where fans finally have to say goodbye to Tom Brady is inching closer.

Could the GOAT stay in Tampa beyond next season? It’s on the table, but bettors are probably starting to see that the safe money is likely on Brady being somewhere that isn’t Tampa more than him staying in pewter and red.

There has just been too much that has worked against Brady and the Bucs from the start of this season to make staying seem like the best choice for the veteran quarterback’s chances at winning another Super Bowl or staying healthy.

A break is coming, and it probably works best for everyone if it comes at the end of this season.

If Brady stays in the NFL, which is on the table, there are better teams in better positions to compete for a Super Bowl with. The 49ers have availability, the Dolphins could be in need of a new quarterback if they keep struggling with injuries, and the list of contenders goes on.

Brady can win somewhere else. The Bucs don’t even look like they can win with Brady right now. Plus, it is almost time for the Buccaneers to pay up on their use of void years and future contracts as a way of maximizing the roster during the past few years.

A rebuild probably has to come before the Bucs are in contention again. That doesn’t come if Brady is here.

The Buccaneers need to clear the books and Brady needs to find a better fit. It’ll be a tough breakup, but it makes sense for everyone, even if no breakup is ever actually amicable.
