The nation and the NFL world has been rocked by what happened to Damar Hamlin. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are doing their part to keep him in their thoughts.

With the NFL coming down to the home stretch of their 2022 season, none of that really seems to matter after what happened to Damar Hamlin. Every team in the league has paid tribute to the Buffalo Bills safety, such as changing their Twitter profile pictures to his jersey number and offering prayers as well as donating to his charity. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are no different, but on Wednesday night the Buccaneers showed that they also went the extra mile in honoring Hamlin.

The team announced that they have lit their stadium up to reflect the colors of the Bills franchise, in an effort to pay tribute to Hamlin, which passes with flying colors.

It’s incredibly hard to think, or talk about football after what happened to Hamlin. Quite honestly, nobody should really try to force the issue either. These athletes are humans, as are the coaches, and we need to remember that element of the game we all love. Tomorrow isn’t promised for anybody, and that has never been more clear after what happened to one of the athletes that we often perceive as being superhuman.

Hamlin and his family deserve all the thoughts, prayers, and anything else that can be sent their way. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are doing their part, along with the rest of the league. Given the nature of rivalries, and often barbaric ways we can act about them leading up to and during games, this is certainly a welcome site. We  at the Pewter Plank are also keeping Damar Hamlin and his family in our thoughts and prayers, as we hope for the best for this human being.
