The season from Hell is finally over for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team now needs to make some easy changes to advance into its future.

No one on the planet should be surprised that the Buccaneers were just embarrassed on national TV in the first round of the playoffs. The Bucs had a good roster, but none of that matters in the end when you have one of the worst coaching staffs in the NFL.

It might be a tough pill to swallow, but Tampa needs some changes to their coaching staff if this team is going to begin its transition into a rebuilding team.

Todd Bowles probably isn’t going anywhere, even if he should, but the easiest move the Bucs will make all season is firing Byron Leftwich.

Leftwich turned one of the best offenses in the NFL into one of the worst in record time. Two games on the year with 24 or more points is already inexcusable on its face for most teams. Doing that on a team like the Buccaneers with Tom Brady at quarterback with that receiving corps is a fireable offense.

Byron Leftwich was the weakest link in Tampa from day one. Whether this was his fault or the fault of Todd Bowles and his influence on the scheme remains to be seen.

Still, keeping Leftwich on after what we saw this season would be insanity. The Buccaneers have absolutely no business being so complacent with the most important side of the ball. Leftwich has lost his shine with Bruce Arians’ retirement. A change is needed.

If the Buccaneers really want to prove to everyone that they care about winning and getting better for the future, this is the first move to make.
