Los Angeles Rams. Baker Mayfield. 2. player. 51. . QB

Believing that Baker Mayfield might be an option that works out is essentially the Arrested Development meme come to life.

It didn’t work for the Browns, it didn’t work for the Panthers, but it might work or us.

Things didn’t go so badly with the Rams, though, which could be an encouraging sign Bucs fans read into if the team decides to go down this route. Baker seems to be firmly in that second-tier that Auman talked about the Bucs dabbling in and feels like the exact thing the team needs one way or the other.

If Baker can channel the guy he was when he hit the peak of his Brown tenure, which is what we saw glimpses of in LA, the Tampa could land a guy that makes the team truly competitive next season. If he turns out to be the dud Carolina got, and who we saw at times in Los Angeles, then the Bucs might be in a position to draft a top quarterback in next year’s draft but did so by going down swinging rather than waving a white flag.

Keep in mind that Todd Monken worked with Baker Mayfield in Cleveland, so if the Bucs end up bringing him back as offensive coordinator then there’s a natural connection to Mayfield that might bring him to Tampa.
