The deadline for final roster cuts is on Sunday, so for players on the roster bubble, this is the final chance to earn a spot on the team.

Jalon Daniels wins the QB2 job over Jake Browning
Jalon Daniels has been Tampa Bay’s best quarterback through two preseason games. His athleticism and rocket arm have been on full display, and have made him an immediate fan favorite.
Still, Jake Browning remains the favorite for the backup quarterback job. Daniels has higher upside, but Browning brings years of NFL experience that could make the coaching staff feel more comfortable relying on him as Baker Mayfield’s backup.
But if Daniels comes through with a third straight impressive performance, it could make the Buccaneers reconsider taking the “safe” route and gamble on Daniels’ potential. He has a chance to make himself the undisputed QB2 with one more strong showing against the Jaguars.
Ayden Garnes catches another interception
Ayden Garnes has been one of the most pleasant surprises of training camp.
The undrafted rookie has single-handedly erased some concerns about the team’s cornerback depth with his play throughout the preseason. He returned an interception for a touchdown in the preseason opener against the Jets giving Tampa Bay their first score of the season.
Through two preseason games, he’s Pro Football Focus’ 10th-ranked rookies. Through 53 coverage snaps, he’s allowed a 42.3 passer rating when targeted and hasn’t allowed a touchdown.
He looks like a lock to stick around as a depth cornerback, and another interception to close out his impressive season would only solidify his status.
Kam Johnson scores a return touchdown on special teams
Kam Johnson is fighting to convince the team to keep him as a sixth wide receiver. Part of his appeal is his ability to contribute on special teams as a returner.
Last week against the Chiefs, he recorded a 28-yard kickoff return and a 23-yard punt return. It’s only a matter of time before he really breaks one.
Johnson is already in good position to make the team, and there would be no better way to slam the door shut and cruise onto the 53-man roster than by returning a kick or punt for a touchdown in the preseason finale.
