The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be looking to improve to 3-0 on the season when they take on the New York Jets in Week 3.
It's been a hard start to the season, with back-to-back games going to the wire in nail-biting finishes. Beyond that the Bucs are being eaten alive by the injury bug, losing both Calijah Kancey and Cody Mauch to season-ending injuries while needing to place Luke Goedeke on IR with a foot injury.
This is in addition to already being without both Chris Godwin and Tristan Wirfs, both of whom started the season on the sideline while resting from previous injuries. Still, the Bucs are in a good spot despite all of that and are set to start celebrating the franchise's 50th anniversary on Sunday.
While it goes without saying that winning is the goal, here are five more things Bucs fans would love to see on their home opener.
A vintage Baker Mayfield performance
Tampa Bay fans have watched as Mayfield lit up the Falcons in Atlanta and led a thrilling game winning drive. Then in Week 2, he did it again, leading a game-winning drive at Houston.
Now, it's time to see Mayfield do it at home. Tampa Bay fans would love for nothing more than a vintage Mayfield performance in their home opener. Whether that means another game winning drive or a three-touchdown game, Bucs fans would love to see some fireworks from their star quarterback.
Emeka Egbuka's first TD in Tampa
Egbuka already has caught three touchdowns, tied for the NFL lead. But so far, none have come in front of his hometown fans. That could all change this Sunday. It would be a treat for Bucs fans to see the rookie in action, as he continues to build his case to be this year's offensive rookie of the year.
A multi-turnover game from the defense
Tampa Bay has not forced a turnover yet in their first two games. Hopefully that will change against Jets' backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor. The former sixth-round pick will probably be rusty, making his first start since 2022.
It would be quite the spectacle if Tampa Bay could force multiple turnovers against Taylor and a weak Jets offense. It would all but guarantee the win.
A four-sack game from the defense
The defense sacked Michael Penix Jr. only once, but they came alive to get to CJ Stroud three times. It would be nice to see the Tampa defense take another step in their pass rush attack, and take down Taylor four or more times. It would certainly get the Buc's fans in attendance fired up.
A blowout win
Needless to say, a blowout win would be the best thing for Tampa Bay in Week 3. While a win is a win, fans would love to see some fireworks from the entire team against a winless New York team that might soon be tanking for a top draft pick. A blowout win would also help ease some of the pressure that the team might be feeling after a pair of nail-biting victories.
