The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could desperately use more help at pass rush and they might be in luck this offseason. One of the best free agents on the market is reportedly interested in joining the Bucs and wreaking havoc on whoever is on Tampa's schedule in 2026.

During an appearance on Pardon My Take, NFL insider Adam Schefter seemed to believe that Hendrickson would love to join the Bucs this offseason.

“I think that [Hendrickson] would love to be in Tampa,” Schefter said. “I think he would love to be in Tampa. He lives in Ponte Verde. I don’t think the Jaguars have the requisite cap room for him... Tampa would be a great fit. I think in a perfect world, Trey would like to stay in Florida. No state income tax. But, he’s also open to going to the best possible situation... If Trey has a pick, I think he’d like to end up (with the Bucs) but we will see if it works out that way.”

Trey Hendrickson is reportedly interested in signing with Bucs

This would be excellent for the Bucs, as they have a major need at pass rush after finishing in the bottom half of the league in sacks last year. Hendrickson did miss double-digit games last year while dealing with an injury but in the two years before that, he recorded back-to-back 17.5 sack campaigns, proving he's still got plenty left in the tank.

To make matters better, Hendrickson was drafted by the rival Saints in 2017 and had a monster 2020 season in New Orleans with 13.5 sacks. He then took his talents to Cincinnati where he's remained ever since. After Hendrickson and the Bengals couldn't agree to terms on an extension, he's now a free agent at the age of 31 and will have his pick of where he wants to end up.

It sounds like, at least according to Schefter, that if Hendrickson had it his way, he'd choose to stay in Florida (where he grew up, played in college, and now currently resides) and that works out well for the Buccaneers. They have a need at pass rush and Hendrickson would be about the best possible name they could add to fill the need. Let's make it happen, Licht!
