Without playing a single down on Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended up being one of the biggest winners of Week 9.

The Bucs soared back to the top of the NFC Playoff Picture, and now own the No. 2 seed right behind the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s a perfect situation to be in heading into what will likely be the toughest stretch of the season for Tampa Bay.

On the other side of the bye are matchups against the Patriots, Bills, and Rams, all of which will test the Bucs unlike we’ve seen so far this season. For the time being, though, the vibes remain immaculate which is something Baker Mayfield proved on Monday night while dropping by the ManningCast to take a subtle shot at himself on national television.

Baker Mayfield joked about his infamous Fayetteville arrest video while on the ManningCast

During his appearance on the ManningCast, Baker casually dropped a joke about his infamous arrest video during his college days at Oklahoma. It was entirely unprompted, too; both Eli and Peyton tip-toed around it while Baker just let the self-own sit there while his hosts had no idea what to do with it.

Just watch:

For anyone unaware of what Baker is referencing here, check this out. Back in 2017 he was arrested in Fayetteville for misdemeanor charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, fleeing, and resisting arrest.

That last part is where the joke comes in, and where the video of the incident lives in infamy.

During the incident in quesiton, an intoxicated Baker tried to flee arresting officers and ended up getting truck-sticked into the side of a concrete wall. It’s both the visual of Baker drunkenly trying to run away coupled with the shriek he lets out once he realizes what’s happening that makes this an all-timer.

He eventually pled guilty to the misdemeanor charges, while the resisting arrest charge was dropped from the record — but it will never be dropped from anyone’s memory, including Baker who continues to try and live it down all these years later.

The good news is it’s all in Baker’s past, but his subtle little joke is actually another reminder of how much he’s matured. He’s come a long way from being a dumb college kid, and has settled into key leadership role with the Bucs that has helped them navigate out of the Tom Brady era rather effortlessly.

He’s won over the locker room and fans with his grit, and the way he’s able to look back on his past mistakes — whether it’s this or the missteps he’s had in his career — prove just how far he’s come.
