You know all those texts you sent your Bucs friends? Right after they re-signed beloved franchise star and still-very-good wide receiver Chris Godwin? The ones that were probably a little bit over the top? Well, as it turns out, you weren't alone.

In probably the least surprising news you'll hear all day, Baker Mayfield did the exact same thing. Stars: they're just like us!
While the team was hosting Godwin for his re-introductory press conference, he and Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht talked a bit about how Mayfield reacted to the news that one of his top receivers would be back, and every bit of it is on-brand.
The vibes, as they say, are strong.
Baker Mayfield's reaction to Chris Godwin's new deal is deeply relatable
Chris Godwin said Baker Mayfield FaceTimed him with Tristan Wirfs after news broke he was coming back.

“He was FaceTiming me and overjoyed. He happened to be with Tristan too which is unsurprising.”

"He was FaceTiming me and overjoyed," Godwin said via Bucs Gameday's Logan B. Robinson. "He happened to be with Tristan too which is unsurprising ... It was great news for all involved. I'm glad that they're happy to have me here. Glad that my teammates feel the way that they do about me."
“They sent me a text at the same time too," Licht added. "Had a few words I couldn’t say here.”
Well now we need to know the words. And quite frankly, I bet Licht probably could have said them there. We would have all understood. That's Baker's whole vibe, anyway. If there was ever a time to allow for a small amount of harmless profanity in a press conference, publicly announcing the return of a beloved team icon is probably the one.
Also, it's deeply adorable that Mayfield and Wirfs are just sending little group texts together. I love that for them. Adult male friendship is so important.
Remember when Brady and Gronk were together and the Bucs' social team basically ran a side show all season about their friendship? What's stopping them from doing that again with these two? That is, quite literally, exactly what offseason content dreams are made of.
If the Bucs can make a Godwin return happen, that should be easy.
