As if we needed more proof that Baker Mayfield is the front-runner for MVP, he continued to make a case for himself on Sunday against the 49ers.

Mayfield has wowed everyone with his nearly perfect stat line so far this season, but he reminded everyone of the real reason he should be MVP with his legs. On what appeared to be a broken play in the third quarter, Baker scrambled for a first down in a way that should put anyone who thinks he isn't the most valuable player in the league to shame.

It's not just that Baker scrambled for on yet another Angry Run that makes this great, but the play first needs to be witnessed before it can be properly appreciated.

Behold, your MVP:

Baker has been doing this ever since he arrived in Tampa Bay, but his grit and swagger is starting to reach Final Boss form. In his very first game with the Buccaneers back in Week 1 of the 2023 season, he scrambled late in a game in Minnesota to extend a drive -- nothing we haven't seen a quarterback do before. That was more than just a run, it was the origin story for everything Baker has done and meant to the Bucs since.

His scramble against the Vikings led to a win and his Angry Run on Sunday led to an absolute dime of a touchdown to Tez Johnson not long after. It was a score that put the Bucs up eight and swing the momentum back to their side of the field.

That's what Baker does, and it's why he's the MVP. He doesn't just put up insane stats, win shootouts, or lead comeback drives. He injects an unimaginable amount of confidence into the Bucs that has served as fuel for their gritty and gutsy wins.

Baker has the numbers to make an MVP case, and he has the comeback kid narrative, but he also has what he showed on this run against the 49ers. He's the reason the Bucs are winning games, and there isn't better evidence of that than that run in Week 6.
