Jameis Winston hasn’t been the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since the 2019 season, but he’s become one of the league’s most universally beloved players in recent years.

His infectious energy and positive attitude have made him a fan-favorite across the NFL, and the lore is only going stronger with his recent act of kindness at the World Cup.

Jameis Winston joins Japan fans in World Cup cleanup

Winston is currently covering the World Cup as a correspondent for Fox Sports, getting in some early reps for his post-football media career.

It’s a longstanding tradition for Japan fans to stay after each game to help clean up the mess and leave the hosting venue spotless.

As fans got to work after Japan’s 2-2 draw against Netherlands on Sunday, Winston joined the fans in tidying up the stadium following the game.

Some cynics might view it as an obvious PR move and a photo op akin to that of a politician, but those who know Winston are already vouching that it’s truly his character.

“…everybody thinks Jameis doin this for show but he really just a genuinely good dude in real life… cameras or not,” Winston’s former Saints teammate Alvin Kamara posted on X.

It’s gestures like this that have made Winston one of the NFL’s most beloved personalities over the years. Whether on the field, in the locker room, or around the community, he continues to reinforce his reputation and make a positive impact at every stop throughout his career.
