The Tampa Bay Buccaneers boast one of the NFL’s most talented offensive cores.

The team has an above average quarterback in Baker Mayfield, an elite offensive line, a solid running back stable, and an impressive group of pass catchers.

After losing Mike Evans, it’s the wide receiver room that will be asked to step up the most in 2026 to replace the loss of a franchise legend, and help replace his production.

So which Bucs wide receiver will elevate their game to a new level and prove to be the team’s X-factor?

Jalen McMillan is one of the Buccaneers’ most important players in 2026

In a room that features Chris Godwin, Emeka Egbuka, Tez Johnson, and rookie Ted Hurst, Jalen McMillan is often overlooked and underrated.

A big part of this is that he missed the majority of last season recovering from a devastating neck injury, so his stats, so he didn’t have the chance to make the impact he’s capable of.

But a fully healthy McMillan could quietly step up into a massive role for the Buccaneers this season.

Back in his rookie year in 2024, McMillan finished with eight touchdown receptions, including five straight games with a touchdown to end his debut season.  He was a scoring machine, and a reliable target for Mayfield.

In his first game back from injury last year, he caught two passes for 38 yards. While the stats don’t scream impressive, he looked explosive and dangerous.

He capitalized on that potential just a few weeks later, going for seven catches and 114 yards in a huge game against the Miami Dolphins. That’s just a glimpse of what he can do when given a significant target share.

Perhaps it’s for the best that the league seems to have forgotten about McMillan.

With defensive game plans likely to focus on Godwin and Egbuka, and Hurst also poised to command a lot of attention due to his rare size and speed combo, McMillan could have plenty of opportunities to make defenses pay.

He’s already proven to have rapport with Mayfield, and be a key playmaker who can find the end zone. Despite the lack of attention as getting right now, don’t be shocked to see him emerge as one of the Bucs’ leading receivers in 2026.
