Buccaneers fans will love division rival's huge draft mistake if prediction is true

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their fans have to wait for 14 other teams to make their draft picks before they are on the clock. With only seven selections, it's unlikely that Jason Licht will give up draft capital to move up.

Drafting before them are the Saints, who hold the 8th overall pick. Behind them, the Panthers sit at 19, and the Falcons won't make a pick until day two, barring a trade.

For Bucs fans, the draft will get interesting when the Saints are on the clock. A recent ESPN prediction could give the fans something to laugh about while they wait for pick 15.

AFC South scout predicts Tampa Bay Buccaneer rivals will draft CB Jermod McCoy

ESPN conducted a top-10 mock draft based on information they received from NFL scouts from across the league. An AFC East scout believes that New Orleans will take Tennessee CB, Jermod McCoy.

""Rarely do you find true blue-chip cornerbacks, and when one falls to you, it's an easy decision to take them off the board," the scout said. "So I'll take McCoy with the belief that his knee is good long term and that he'll be back to the player we saw in 2024, when he was the best cornerback in the nation.""
Unnamed AFC South scout

McCoy would be a reach for Tampa at 15, given his medical reports. Recently, it was reported that teams are taking him off their boards due to a red flag medical on his knee. So if the Saints want to risk that pick, we say go for it! In fact, we will take the card to the podium for you.

McCoy has a lot of talent and was likely the top CB in this year's draft class had he not torn his ACL last year. During the NFL Combine, there were reports that his knee is considered by some to be degenerative.

The Buccaneers should think seriously about staying away from him if he is still on the board at 15. There are good CBs to be had in this draft through the second and third rounds.

McCoy may turn out to be great, but risking a top-10 pick on him seems too much. LSU's Mansoor Delane would make more sense for the Saints if they wanted to go with a CB.
