The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have questions in their secondary, but second-year corner Jacob Parrish is hoping to change all of that.

Parrish spent his 2025 rookie season primarily as the team's nickelback. This year, he is hoping to provide the Bucs with better depth on the boundary. Parris is "cross-training" to add more value to his resume.

The Buccaneers are hoping that the extra work outside will make Parrish more valuable and versatile. That's good news, as it appears that he is handling the extra workload just fine.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers are working on getting Jacob Parrish more boundary reps

In 2025, Parrish took 746 snaps, with most of them coming inside. Heh as two interceptions, two sacks, and seven passes defended. Now, he isgetting a chance to shore up one of the defense's weaker spots. If it works, the Bucs may solve a need.

Parrish has good closing speed, but it is his ability to move quickly with burst movements that stands out. This is what the Bucs are hoping to develop. With capable downfield range and decent speed on the long route, Parrish is hoping to put himself outside where he can do more damage.

Tampa's corners are good, but they are far from elite. The hope is that the front seven will take pressure off the secondary. Both Benjamin Morrison and Zyon McCollum still have work to do in their own development. Having another player pushing for playing time will create competition that will make the entire unit better.

The Bucs drafted Keionte Scott this past April. Penciled in as another nickel corner, the hope is that Parrish can slide outside and Scott can take over Parrish's role from last season. More competition in the secondary that is needed.

Parris can handle the pressure, and so far he is handling the work, but the real test won't come over these final OTA days. Training camp will be the biggest challenge for the entire secondary. Parrish's offseason work has provided enough to warrant the outside usage, but he needs to continue with that development, embrace it, and win the job.
