The Tampa Bay Buccaneers struck gold when they were able to draft Tristan Wirfs with the No. 13 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Wirfs was the fourth offensive tackle selected, but wound up being by far the best of the group, and is on a Hall of Fame trajectory.
Wirfs has been one of the most important factors in the Bucs’ success over the last few years, but if the draft were done over today, he’d be off the board long before Tampa Bay could get their hands on him.Â

SOGFootball recently ran a 2020 NFL re-draft, and Wirfs jumped all the way to the New York Giants at the No. 4 overall pick.

The Giants originally drafted offensive tackle Andrew Thomas with their pick, but now they correct course and get the best lineman in the draft.Â
Losing Wirfs would alter the trajectory of the franchise. Wirfs stepped in on day one and was an absolute anchor for the offensive line, providing reliable protection for Tom Brady and playing a crucial role in the Super Bowl victory.Â
He went on to convert to left tackle and became the first player in NFL history to be named All-Pro at both tackle spots. The Bucs got one of the biggest draft steals in recent memory with their Wirfs pick.
In the re-draft, with Wirfs off the board, the Bucs end up selecting Antoine Winfield Jr. at No. 13, who they originally drafted in the second round at No. 45 overall.Â
It shows what a slam-dunk draft Jason Licht had in 2020, landing two players that are seen as top-13 talents in their class six years later.Â
The Bucs’ 2020 NFL Draft is the type of draft class that general managers dream of every year. The Bucs landed two All-Pro players that made immediate impact and became cornerstone players for the franchise.Â
Luckily for the Buccaneers, and much to the dismay of the rest of the league, there are no do-overs, and Wirfs is here to stay in Tampa Bay.
