The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be dealing with one of their biggest foes for one more year after Cam Jordan re-signed with the New Orleans Saints.
No player has drawn the ire of Buccaneers fans over the years quite like Jordan.
While he’s a Hall of Fame-caliber talent, much of the disdain in Tampa Bay hasn’t come from his play on the field — but from the repeated jabs he’s taken at the Buccaneers throughout his career.
Jordan has claimed the Buccaneers would fall back to the bottom of the NFC South after Tom Brady’s retirement, a prediction that hasn’t come close to materializing as Tampa Bay has gone 4-2 against New Orleans since. He also drew backlash for calling Tristan Wirfs “fat and unathletic” last offseason and previously mocked the Buccaneers for re-signing offensive tackle Donovan Smith.

He’s often put on a facade of acting above the divisional rivalry, despite frequently being one of its main instigators.
It initially looked like the storyline could be coming to an end after Jordan’s contract expired following last season, with the two sides unable to reach a new deal. But in a turn of events, Jordan will return to New Orleans on a one-year, incentive-heavy contract.
Saints re-sign Cam Jordan to one-year deal
Ian Rapoport reported that Jordan and the Saints have agreed to terms on a new deal that keeps the veteran pass rusher in New Orleans for the 2026 season.
Jordan found a second wind in his age-36 season, recording 10.5 sacks — his first double-digit sack total since 2021.
He remains a key veteran leader for the Saints and continues to build on a career that has made him one of the franchise’s all-time greats as he enters his 16th season.
But from the Buccaneers’ perspective, Jordan is no longer the same threat he once was. Sure, he’s been dominant with 17 sacks against the Bucs in his career, but he hasn’t recorded a sack against Tampa Bay since 2021. All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs, along with right tackle Luke Goedeke, have largely made him a non-factor in recent matchups.
With Jordan failing to make much of an impact on the field against the Buccaneers these days, the rivalry rhetoric remains, keeping the back-and-forth between the two sides alive and well.

Even in that arena, Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht has been known to keep receipts and fire right back at Jordan, with Tampa Bay often coming out on top in both the on-field matchup as well as the war of words.
