The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not having a good start to their 2026 season. If they had it to do over again, they may have opted to stay in Tampa Bay.

Injuries plagued the Buccaneers last season, and they aren't off to a great start in week one. Already being destroyed by the Cincinnati passing game, starting corner Jacob Parrish has been ruled out for the remainder of the game.

It's an added insult to injury. The Buccaneers simply are not getting things moving, but they only have themselves to blame.

Jacob Parrish ruled out of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game with an injury

The injury hasn't been clarified by the team yet. Parrish went down after a play and stayed on the ground for a few seconds before getting up and walking off the field under his own power. It was reported that he may have suffered a back injury.

The Buccaneers have been shooting themselves in the foot all day. Mayfield has two turnovers, one when he was at the Bengals' two-yard line. Bucky Irving added another one.

While the offense continues to commit self-harm, the defense hasn't been able to stop the Bengals consistently; it will get harder without Parrish, who has been playing well. He had two tackles on the day and one pass defended.

With Parrish out, the Buccaneers now have to rely on rookie Keionte Scott. That's not horrible news. Given the way this game is going, getting the rookie experience is important. It's just not how Bucs fans imagined the start of the season would go.

Todd Bowles will have to wait until Monday to give the media a full update on the injuries, and that includes Parrish. With the corner walking off the field on his own, it's a good sign that the injury may not be all that serious. It's just not good for today when they need the experience.

Bengals' QB Joe Burrow has been consistent, completing 18 passes on 24 attempts with one touchdown heading into the second half. The Buccaneers have done a good job of keeping starting WR Jamar Chase out of the game. He has just two catches, but they are getting killed by tight end Mike Gesicki. The TE has 4 receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown.

The Buccaneers will have a chance; however, Josiah Trotter picked off a Burrow pass and took it back for a touchdown. The pick-six brings the Buccaneers to within seven. This is going to put more pressure on the secondary depth without Parrish.
