The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wasted no time making a big splash in the undrafted free agent market immediately following the 2026 NFL Draft.

Tampa Bay’s interest was no secret, as they previously hosted Daniels for a pre-draft 30 visit.
Daniels has an intriguing skillset. He has a strong arm, and above average mobility. He can improvise in the pocket and pick up yards with his legs.Â
He completed 61.5% of his passes for 9,282 yards and 67 touchdowns, along with over 1,400 rushing yards and 23 scores on the ground. Â
The physical traits are there, but there are concerns that led to him going undrafted.
Daniels has accuracy questions, as well as poor decision making at times. He threw 31 interceptions during his six college seasons. For a prospect that will turn 24 during his rookie season, he’d ideally be more far along in his development.Â
Still, it’s encouraging to see the Buccaneers invest in their backup quarterback spot after how weak the room was over the past few seasons. Teddy Bridgewater frankly didn’t look like he belonged on an NFL field in his brief appearances last season.Â
Before that, they relied on Kyle Trask as their backup for four seasons. The Bucs shouldn’t take Baker Mayfield’s health for granted, and they need to do their due diligence to ensure they have a strong backup plan in place if disaster strikes.Â
Daniels will add much-needed competition during the offseason, and the quarterback room just got a lot more interesting.
