Eagles set an asking price for Buccaneers to meet in potential Haason Reddick trade

Will they meet the Eagles asking price, and better yet should they?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could use some help in the pass-rushing department and Haason Reddick is still holding out with the New York Jets. Naturally, Bucs fans are interested in seeing the former 13th overall pick come to Tampa.

Well, according to Josina Anderson, if the Jets trade Reddick to an NFC team, they'll be sending a second-round pick to Philadelphia. This makes it unlikely that New York would ship Reddick to an NFC squad, meaning the Bucs' chances of landing Reddick just became unrealistic.

This is a disappointing development considering the Bucs' need for a true pass-rushing threat. They have Calijah Kancey and Yaya Diaby but they're both young players and Tampa needs a strong veteran to lead that group. They didn't find a true replacement for Shaq Barrett and that's what Reddick could be if they found a way to trade for him.

Unfortunately, the development of the Jets having to give Philly a second-round pick probably means the Bucs won't be landing Reddick. Bucs fans can maybe hope that the Jets will want to avoid giving Reddick to a conference foe and potentially having to face him down the line (or in the playoffs) but that might be a small price to pay if they want to hang onto their second-round pick.

Bucs' chances of landing Haason Reddick took a major hit

The good news is that when simply looking at sack numbers, the Bucs are in a good spot there. They've racked up 17 sacks through their first six games, good for eighth-most in the league (well, a three-way tie for eighth) so it could be much worse.

That being said, we've seen how playoff teams need a game-changer on the defensive side of the ball to put pressure on the quarterback. Do the Bucs have that right now? If not, then they need to do what they can to get Reddick in a Bucs uniform by the trade deadline.
