We’re starting to learn more and more about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2025 schedule ahead of its official reveal tonight.
According to the folks over at JoeBucsFan, the Buccaneers will travel to Houston to face the Texans on Monday Night Football in week two.
This is the latest in a flurry of schedule leaks that have surfaced this morning. Based on early reporting, the Buccaneers' first three games appear to be set as follows:
Week 1: @ Atlanta Falcons
Week 2: @ Houston Texans (MNF)
Week 3: Vs. New York Jets
The teams are pretty evenly matched, and both feature explosive offenses that can light up the scoreboard with ease. They each won their divisions at 10-7 a season ago, and both are looking to take the next step toward true Super Bowl contention.
They last met in 2023, where rookie C.J. Stroud threw five touchdowns and led a game-winning drive to defeat the Buccaneers 39-37 in one of the most exciting games in recent memory. Hopefully, Tampa Bay's defense will turn in a better performance this time around.
This game will be extra sentimental for players like Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans and Zyon McCollum—all Texas natives who will get to play in front of a hometown audience.
The Bucs and Texans have only played each other six times historically, the fewest meetings the Bucs have had with any opponent. In those six games, the Bucs are an abysmal 1-5 against Houston.
In addition to their historical struggles against the Texans, the Bucs have also recently struggled in prime time. Tampa Bay went 0-4 in their standalone games in 2024, and lost a fifth in the playoffs to Washington.
The Bucs will have a chance to break free from their prime time woes right off the bat in Week 2, and beat the Texans for the first time since 2003.
