Buccaneers showing interest in a rising star in 2026 NFL Draft

Oscar Delp is quickly soaring up draft boards, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the teams showing interest in the Georgia tight end.

Although the main priority for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2026 NFL Draft will be loading up on imapct players on the defensive side of the ball after a horrible collapse at the end of the 2025 season that cost them a playoff spot, increasingly in recent weeks, wide receivers and offensive linemen are being mocked to the Bucs with the 15th overall pick; it's not just Kenyon Sadiq on the offensive side of the ball who is being tabbed for a move to Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers biggest holes are clearly on defense, though, so instead of picking Sadiq in the first round, for example, Tampa could look to find value at positions like tight end and the offensive line after the first two rounds when they may continue to load up on front seven players (and maybe a cornerback if Jason Licht finds someone he loves).

Buccaneers host Georgia tight end Oscar Delp for pre-draft visit

There are some intriguing talents at the tight end position in this year's draft beyond the Oregon grad, and the Buccaneers are quietly adding another to their official list of targets. According to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, former Georgia Bulldogs tight end Oscar Delp recently completed a top 30 visit with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he also visited with the Los Angeles Chargers this week. Rapoport says that Delp has met with the AFC Champion New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings, too.

Delp is one of several intriguing tight end prosepcts after the first round of the draft, and he is one of the rising stars in the pre draft process right now. The Georgia man projects as a Day 2 pick, and a third round flier on Delp could be exactly the right move for the Bucs to add another big target for quarterback Baker Mayfield and create strong tight end duo after re-signing Cade Otton. The fact that the Bucs opted to keep Otton when many were projecting him to move elsewhere for more money may indicate less of an inclination to burn a first rounder on Sadiq and more towards going for a guy like Max Klare or Delp later on.

Last season, Delp caught just 20 passes and one touchdown, but NFL teams look beyond usage in college football programs to project at the next level. Delp has been praised heavily for his athleticism, ability to make plays in the passing game while still blocking effectively, developmental upside, and reliable hands. He looks like he could be the total package with more opportunities at the next level, and a lot of the criticism of his game feel like nitpicks resulting from his lack of status in college.
