All NFL teams have until 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday to bring their rosters down to 53-layers. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have already made notable cuts, such as wide receiver Trey Palmer and safety Shilo Sanders. As good as the Buccaneers defense should be this season, they could still use reinforcement, particularly at cornerback.
The rival Atlanta Falcons may have just given the Buccaneers a massive assist.
NFL insiderJordan Schultz reported that the Falcons are waiving rookie cornerback Cobee Bryant, but hope they can bring him back on the practice squad. Of course, that's if he clears waivers. But this is a risky strategy for the Falcons, as another team can sign him.

Falcons give Buccaneers a chance to steal away Cobee Bryant
Bryant was one of the more promising cornerback prospects out of the Big 12. During his four years playing for the Kansas Jayhawks, Bryant was named First-team All Big 12 for three consecutive seasons (2022-24), and showed off his ball hawking abilities, as evidenced by his 13 interceptions.
Yet, Bryant went undrafted, but quickly found a spot on the Falcons roster for training camp. Despite dealing with multiple injuries throughout camp and the preseason, Bryant still competed in two games.
In Atlanta's preseason game against the Detroit Lions, Bryant recorded three tackles, but allowed three receptions for 41 yards on three targets. Facing the Dallas Cowboys, Bryant allowed a 29 yard touchdown, which was his lone target for the game.
Yes, the preseason statistics don't look great, but Bryant presents incredible upside. He's simply too good to pass up talent-wise. If he does want to make an impact in the NFL, the Buccaneers make a lot of sense as a destination. After all, Todd Bowles is the head coach, and he helped turn the Buccaneers into a top defense ever since he joined the organization as a defensive coordinator in 2019. If there is anyone who can get the most out of Bryant's potential, it's Bowles.
The Falcons are taking a calculated risk in letting Bryant hit waivers. Even if he clears, he can sign on with any team. The Buccaneers should at least consider bringing in Bryant to help fill out their cornerback depth.
