For the first time this season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be under the bright lights of national television, a historically not-so-great place for the team.
Tampa Bay is 3-12 in primetime regular season games over the last three seasons, and hasn't won a non-playoff game in that time slot since Week 16 all the way back in 2022.
To put it bluntly, the Bucs haven't won a primetime game in the regular season during the Baker Mayfield era. Tampa Bay has lost each of its last five primetime games, including the Wild Card loss to Washington, which happened on a Sunday Night Football broadcast.
Needless to say, it's a troubling trend everyone would like to see end. Hopefully that happens in Week 2, because the Bucs have three more nationally televised games this season, assuming more aren't flexed later in the year.
Tampa Bay is in a tough spot already with the whole national television and night-game curse, but the last time the team was in Houston was a totally miserable experience. C.J. Stroud launched his Rookie of the Year campaign into orbit thanks to a horrid game by the Bucs' defense, as Baker Mayfield and company failed to win a shootout.
Here's to hoping things turn out differently this time around and the Bucs can exact some much-needed revenge.
What channel is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game on tonight? (September 14th)
Here's everything you need to know to catch tonight's game.
- Date: Monday, September 15th
- Start Time: 7 pm ET
- Location: NRG Stadium | Houston, TX
- TV Channel: ABC | ESPN
- Announcers: Joe Buck, Troy Aikman
- Radio: WXTB 97.9 FM
- Live Stream: NFL+ | Fubo
Because it's a nationally broadcast game, the action will air on local ABC stations no matter which of the home or away markets you're in.
What we won't see is a ManningCast of tonight's game. ESPN is airing a Monday Night Football doubleheader, which means ESPN2 needs to stay clear for the Raiders-Chargers game later in the evening.
How to listen to Buccaneers vs. Texans game on the radio
Buck and Aikman aren't everyone's cup of tea, which means Monday night could be a good evening for a little Gene Deckerhoff action on Buccaneers Radio Network.
WXTB 97.9 FM is the Bucs' flagship station and will be available to those in the Tampa area. For anyone outside of that, SiriusXM will carry the game on Channel 226. Anyone interested in the Texans' broadcast can tune into SiriusXM Channel 225.
There are more options than just the Bucs flagship station, though, and you can check out more radio affiliates here.
