The preseason officially starts on Thursday night, which means NFL teams have been having joint practices throughout the week. Naturally, joint practices mean team fights. Every year, when opposing teams meet each other in the middle of training camp, it leads to fights, and this year has been no different.
On Thursday afternoon, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did their part to keep the trend going. Hosting the Tennessee Titans for practice, it didn’t take long for both teams to clear their sidelines. As Tampa’s first-team offense faced off against Tennessee’s starting defense, the Buccaneers took exception to running back Bucky Irving being slung to the ground.
This resulted in a skirmish on the field, and both sidelines cleared as everyone got near the action. Tristian Wirfs, who’s currently recovering from a knee surgery, even limped onto the field with some assistance.

Ultimately, it was a lot like most baseball fights: a lot of bodies on the field, but very little action. However, the joint practice has been tense between the two squads, with Buccaneers fans even getting involved.
Titans corner Jarvis Brownlee Jr. was captured going back and forth with a fan. It’s unclear what the fan said, but Brownlee was visibly incensed and had to be pulled away from the situation. The second-year defensive back eventually took his frustration out on rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka, delivering a big hit on the promising wideout.

Titans corner Jarvis Browlee gets into heated argument with Buccaneers fans at joint practice
Joint practices are always tense, as guys are fighting for their careers, and are often exhausted from going through weeks of training camp. It’s truly one of the clearest receipes for a fight, and that’s more so the case when fans are in attendance. A hostile crowed certainly knows how to raise already hot temperatures.
The culmination of all this tension is usually a rather civil preseason game. For the Buccaneers and Titans, this game will take place on Saturday night.
