Despite a slew of injuries torpedoing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster, the team heads into Week 6 with a chance to move into the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture.

The Bucs are hot off a signature win over the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, in which they won a shootout for the ages. It was the type of game that put Baker Mayfield on the MVP map in a very serious way, but also propelled Tampa Bay to heights we were hoping for but didn't totally expect.

Mike Evans and Bucky Irving were out and don't figure to be back anytime soon, Luke Goedeke and Cody Mauch are missing from the offensive line, and Calijah Kancey is on season-ending IR. Despite this, the Bucs are 4-1 and by toppling the 49ers on Sunday would have the best record in the NFC and be among the upper echelon of teams in the entire league.

It won't be easy, as Chris Godwin has been added to the heap of injured players, but we've watched the Bucs subvert our expectations all season and this Sunday feels like it could be more of the same.

What channel is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game on today? (October 12th)

Originally this game was scheduled for the 1pm ET window, but the NFL flexed it a few weeks ago into the premier late slot. It's truly a Game of the Week, as the Bucs will have Jim Nantz and Tony Romo on the call which means it's the crown jewel game of CBS' slate of games this week.

That's good and bad news. It's obviously great that the Bucs are being spotlighted, but this isn't the first time they've been in this situation with high stakes. Two years ago they were flexed into the late Game of the Week window against the Detroit Lions and proceeded to get boatraced.

Hopefully a new year -- and a different television network -- means a better result.
