At 1-2 and with their only win this season being an overtime victory over the lowly New York Jets, the Green Bay Packers have been almost as disappointing as the 0-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season. So when these two NFC teams go at it on Sunday in Week 4 of the 2026 NFL regular season, the Buccaneers will be optimistic that their red-hot defense can win the battle against Jordan Love and the Pack, especially after they watched a questionable Atlanta Falcons team batter them 35-3 on primetime in Week 3.
As bad as Love has been this season, completing a dismal 53% of his passes with 6.8 passing yards per attempt and a below average TQBR below 50.0, the Packers do have a tantalizing group of offensive weapons, especially at the wide receiver position, who can cause the Buccaneers up-and-down secondary problems if they are more "down" than "up" on Sunday.
And there is no player who poses a bigger threat and is in better form this season than Christian Watson. The former second-round pick out of North Dakota State has been one of the best wide receivers in the league this season despite his quarterback's poor play, and that should only highlight how amazing he has been when looking at his numbers relative to Love's.
Buccaneers must be ready for Packers WR Christian Watson
Watson has scored a touchdown in all three games this season and was excellent against the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons in Weeks 1 and 3 with more than 90 receiving yards in those games (147 yards and two touchdowns against the Vikes), only struggling, funnily enough, with just four catches on 11 targets (but still a touchdown) against the Jets.
In total, Watson has caught 17 passes for 284 yards and 4 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 9.8 yards per target. Right now, Watson is in the top five in the NFL in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Jacob Parrish figures to be the main cornerback on Christian Watson in Week 4, and while he is the Buccaneers best corner, he is allowing a QB Rating of 114.2 with just one pass defensed in two games this season and can get burned by explosive receivers who are also good at the catch point.
Watson is not the best matchup for Parrish because he can be so streaky and explosive, and his strengths can exploit Parrish's weaknesses. Watson is the one guy who is hurting defenses on the Packers now, and he could be the Bucs undoing if the defensive backs don't come to play.
