In what has become a lovely annual tradition, it appears the Tampa Bay Buccaneers nailed yet another draft class. Jason Licht has increasingly been getting his flowers for the Hall of Fame-worthy job he's done constructing the Bucs over the last decade, but his masterpiece might be the insane ability to draft well and keep the roster stocked with top talent.
That's how the Bucs were able to navigate out of salary cap hell after Tom Brady retired and its why they're a top Super Bowl contender this year.
Emeka Egbuka is hands down the team's marquee rookie, but he's just the tip of the iceberg. The Bucs have two other rookies having just as important an impact on the other side of the ball. Jacob Parrish and Elijah Roberts weren't top draft picks this year, but both are playing like it at exactly the time the Bucs need them to most.

For what feels like the umpteenth season in a row, the Bucs are dealing with depth issues thanks to injuries. The secondary has been hit walloped over the last few seasons -- who can forget the Monday Night game against the Eagles when fourth-stringers were being called upon to play due to injuries -- but Parrish has helped soothe the pain.
With Benjamin Morrison and Zyon McCollum both out last week against the 49ers, Parrish finished the game among the team's leading tacklers. He's allowed around 168 yards in coverage, which ranks right alongside Denver's Patrick Surtain II.
One area where Parrish has been a pleasant surprise is as a run stopper and a blitzing corner. For as good as he's been in coverage, he actually grades out better in run defense, and he's come up big for a pass rush that sorely needs some energy.

There's another Buccaneers rookie standing out as well. Parrish is locking things down in the secondary, but Elijah Roberts has been a menace in all the ways fans were hoping he'd be when the team took a fifth-round flier on him.
Roberts has quietly become one the league's best pass rushers, ranking first among rookie interior defensive lineman in win rate (11.0%) and would be sixth among all pass-rushing rookies when edge rushers are included.
His sample size is small, but even though he's played just 35.17 percent of defensive snaps, Roberts currently has four total tackles, one sack, and another tackle for loss. That's the type of stuff we've seen out of late-round draft gems that has made Licht into the Hall of Fame guru he's become.
There's a lot of season left, but the Bucs are already being tested by injuries and having guys like Parrish and Roberts step up the way they have has been a massive relief. They've both already made an impact through the first six games, and Tampa Bay will need to continue to see that development over the next 11 if the season is to stay on track.
