Emeka Egbuka threw the Buccaneers chief problem under the bus

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the most talented offenses in the NFL on paper, and they were flying high with Baker Mayfield firing on all cylinders under center in the first half of the season. But Mayfield's MVP charge was short lived, as the wheels fell off the Bucs wagon in the second half of the campaign, with Tampa Bay inexplicably failing to even make the playoffs in a very weak NFC South.

While injuries played a huge role in the Buccaneers demise, there was a prevailing belief among the fans and even, it seems, Todd Bowles and the actual members of the Bucs organization that new offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard simply was not up to the standard of an NFL offensive coordinator. And the drop off between him and Liam Coen, who led the Jacksonville Jaguars to an unlikely playoff bid in his first season in the north of Florida, was palpable.

It was one thing for Bowles as a head coach to throw his young offensive coordinator under the bus, but now that Grizzard has been fired for months, young star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka is not afraid to make his feelings known about the former offensive coordinator.

Emeka Egbuka is a fan of Zac Robinson

In an appearance on the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams, Egbuka hyped up new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, freshly hired from the Atlanta Falcons, and then proceeded to unleash on the fired Josh Grizzard.

Egbuka said, "We fell into a little bit of a lull as an entire offense... We got a new offensive coordinator, so we're ready to put all those pieces together"

Now, there are far more vociferous ways to criticize someone, but all Emeka Egbuka had to do was say the word "lull" about the Buccaneers offense under Grizzard, and the point is well taken. Bucs fans can only nod at what Egbuka is saying, and, to be quite blunt, it felt like the Buccaneers offense just straight up flat lined in the second stanza of the 2025 NFL season.

Zac Robinson is not a huge name like Mike McDaniel, who chose John Harbaugh and Justin Herbert over Todd Bowles and Baker Mayfield instead of staying in the great state of Florida this spring, but he should not have a hard time being an upgrade on Grizzard. It already sounds like the Buccaneers players are excited about Robinson at the helm. Now it's time to see the results.
