It's been two years since Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans have needed to think about Devin White, but that doesn't mean he's not still out there trying to make things worked. After looking like a potential successor to Lavonte David's throne, White flamed out following a promising start to his career and has yet to fully recover.

White was the fifth overall pick in the NFL Draft back in 2019 and became a key piece of a Super Bowl-winning defense not long after. That's what makes how things ended for him Tampa Bay such a bummer, as a potentially bright future was smudged for reasons we're all still trying to figure out.

Two teams have tried to answer that question unsuccessfully, with White spending time with both the Eagles and Texans last season. Now he's on his fourth team in two years, with a few familiar faces giving him a chance to become the player he used to be.

Former Buccaneers first-round pick Devin White signs with Las Vegas Raiders

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, White is getting a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. It's a move that gives him a Super Bowl-winning coach in Pete Carroll, as well as reunites him with Tom Brady.

While Brady no doubt is a decision-maker in Vegas, the buck stops with John Spytek who was partof the reason White came to Tampa Bay in the first place. Now he gets to reunite with his former first-round pick in a situation that hopefully pays off for all.

It was a pretty spectacular crash-out for White during his last season in Tampa Bay. Once hailed as a key piece of the future, he ended up losing his starting job to K.J. Britt after a bizarre sequence of events back in Week 15 of the 2023 season.

White was ruled a surprise inactive ahead of the Buccaneers' dominating win over the Green Bay Packers, which signaled the beginning of the end for him. Truthfully the writing was on the wall well before that, as he was battling the front office for a $100 million contract the Bucs didn't want to give him.

Injuries and poor play plagued him during his last years in Tampa, but there's an All-Pro player somewhere in there. That's what the Raiders are hoping to get, and it says a lot that Spytek and Brady are willing to reunite with him.

Add in the Pete Carroll factor and all of a sudden White is in a perfect situation to bounce back. Here's to hoping he does, as he showed far too much talent with the Bucs to have his career end with the whimper of his final days in Tampa.
