The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed one of the most high-profile undrafted free agents of all time in Shilo Sanders last year.
Sanders is, of course, the son of Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders, and the brother of Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
He had a golden opportunity to carve out a role in a thin Tampa Bay safety room, but a disappointing preseason, incuding an ejection in the preseason finale, resulted in his release.
Sanders had kept his hopes up for another opportunity in the NFL, but he seems to have accepted that the ship has sailed.
Shilo Sanders admits NFL career is likely over
For a while, Sanders had maintained belief that he’d get another NFL career. He kept himself in football shape and stayed prepared in case a team came calling.
Now, reality seems to be setting in.

“It takes a special kind of guy to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And I don’t think there’s any light in my tunnel,” Sanders said in a video posted to his YouTube channel.
Sanders has landed on his feet as a content creator. He frequently streams and posts to YouTube. His infectious personality that made him an immediate fan-favorite in Tampa Bay draws an audience, as evidenced by his 300,000 YouTube subscribers.
Sanders definitely had some highlights during his short-lived stint with the Bucs. He shined throughout minicamp and OTAs, and had a few standout moments during the preseason.
If that’s really it for his NFL career, it was fun and memorable if nothing else.
