Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston had a hilarious message for Jalon Daniels after the rookie led Tampa Bay to a primetime win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Now playing for the New York Giants, Winston gave Daniels his flowers for an impressive performance before sneaking in a shameless plug for his own team. The Giants are currently in first place in the NFC East, and Winston made sure to remind everyone that Daniels’ big night helped New York in the standings.
Jameis Winston gives Jalon Daniels his "W of the Week" award after Buccaneers’ win over Cowboys
Speaking on The Jameis Winston Show. Winston gives out a “W of the Week” award., stemming from his infamous “Eat a W” pregame speech in Tampa Bay to who he deems as the most deserving player. This week, it was the Buccaneers rookie quarterback.

“The W of the Week goes to Jalon Daniels for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I’ve been there, and playing on primetime against the Dallas Cowboys, shout out to you man for going in there and being electric, being efficient and leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a win against the Dallas Cowboys to help the New York Football Giants continue to extend their lead in the NFC East standings.”
All jokes aside, that’s big praise for an undrafted rookie coming from a former No. 1 overall pick that spent five seasons in Tampa Bay.
Winston is playing good football himself. In Week 5 against the Commanders, Winston went 33-of-54 for 326 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He led the Giants back from a 27-13 deficit to tie the game at 27, but the tie never broke. The Giants sit atop the NFC East at 3-1-1.
As Winston pointed out, the Buccaneers’ win over the Cowboys to knock Dallas down to 2-3 was a nice boost for Big Blue in the standings. You’re welcome, Jameis.
Daniels was very efficient and managed the game perfectly, helping the Buccaneers earn their first win of the season.
He finished 19-of-25 for 189 yards and a touchdown, along with 23 rushing yards. Most importantly, he committed no turnovers.
Daniels will start one more game for the Buccaneers in Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers before Mayfield’s expected return in Week 7.
If he could repeat last week’s performance — completing over 70% of his passes, making plays with his legs, and protecting the football — the Bucs will be in good position to win the game, and perhaps Daniels could earn a second-straight W of the Week award from Winston.
