For the fourth year in a row, the NFC South crown rests on the head of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite the up-and-down nature of the season and struggles that would have sunk a weaker team, the Bucs finished 10-7 and will once again host a playoff game in January.
The Bucs are on a historic run, as the team has bested its previous streak of four straight trips to the playoffs with its win on Sunday. Think about this: Tampa Bay hasn't missed the playoffs this decade, which is impossible to have imagined during the Dark Age of the 2010s.
Yet here we are, celebrating another division title and doing so by dancing on the grave of the Saints. Well, not everyone is dancing as general manager Jason Licht is doing some dunking as he takes a well-deserved victory lap around the division.
Jason Licht trolled Cam Jordan and the Saints after a fourth straight NFC South title for the Bucs
When Tom Brady retired back in early 2022, most folks thought the Bucs would regress back to being a middle-to-low end team in the league. All of the people who thought that have been proven wrong twice, but one critic in particular has stuck out to Licht.
Saints defensive end Cam Jordan famously quipped that the Bucs would 'go back to go back to where Tampa Bay has been'. We all know what he meant by that, and Licht hasn't forgotten it ever since he said it.
He reminded Jordan of where Tampa Bay is after the Bucs beat the Saints to win another division title on Sunday.
Last year Licht made the rounds at the NFL Combine by reminding certain reporters who interacted with him what they said about the Bucs in the wake of Brady retiring. It was an amazing display of keeping receipts and goes to show just how seriously Licht not only takes winning but also being right.
That's why his dunking on Cam Jordan and the Saints becoming an annual tradition is extra sweet. Tampa Bay paid its dues in the past with how terrible the team has usually been, but those days are over. The NFC South once again belongs to the Buccaneers and Light is going to make sure everyone knows it.
