The word "Glazer" rarely means good news around these parts, but a recent report from top NFL insider Jay Glazer is giving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hope that they can land one of the best defensive players in the league.

There is no question that the defense was a huge problem for the Buccaneers last season, and their inability to get stops or even put the slightest amount of pressure on opposing quarterbacks was chiefly behind their collapse in the second half of the season as the Bucs inexplicably missed out on the playoffs entirely in a historically weak NFC South.

Although the Buccaneers need to prioritize multiple positions on the defensive side of the ball, their biggest area of need is edge rusher, where only YaYa Diaby is even a remotely competent starter on the current Bucs roster.

The Buccaneers can land an elite EDGE

In a recent appearance on the Yahoo! Sports Daily show, NFL insider Jay Glazer, who is the best in the business at breaking bombshell stories around players, reported that Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby is "done" with the team.

Crosby's frustrations with the constantly downtrodden Raiders organization has been palpable, and any optimism about Tom Brady in the ownership booth or now Klint Kubiak coming in to coaching the team has meant nothing. Crosby has been out on the Raiders for a while, and him wanting out officially would come as no surprise.

For many, Glazer's word is as good as gospel, and now the Buccaneers need to get on this train fast and beat out all the other top teams to the punch if the Las Vegas Raiders are indeed willing to trade Maxx Crosby for a reasonable haul of draft picks.

The Bucs cannot part ways with a first round pick this year due to the sheer defensive talent in the class, but there has to be a way the Bucs can cobble together a package to entice both the Raiders and Crosby into making a move.

Crosby is a legitimate superstar pass rusher and a Defensive Player of the Year caliber athlete who can immediately take the Bucs defense up a notch. The Bucs did not even best the Carolina Panthers in the 2025 NFL regular season, and only a superstar player in that front seven is going to move the needle for this Bucs team. Crosby is one of those few superstars who can do just that.
